The seaside village that everyone loves with its heavenly waters and delicious food!
About an hour and a half from the center of Thessaloniki, a small village on the second leg of Halkidiki has managed to gather a large part of the domestic tourist activity throughout the summer.
Nikiti has heavenly beaches, offering thick shadows under tall trees which often reach the sea. It is certainly the romantic character of the village and a pervasive sense of picturesqueness that remains alive despite the countless visitors who arrive here from Thessaloniki, but also many other parts of northern Greece and abroad.
About an hour and a half from the center of Thessaloniki, a small village on the second leg of Halkidiki has managed to gather a large part of the domestic tourist activity throughout the summer.
In the central beach of Nikita there is a completely different life, a non-stop movement that lasts until late at night, with families eating by the sea, with teenagers riding bicycles on the main road, with groups drinking in one of the village bar. In the northern part of the settlement, however, things are more peaceful, more secluded, more relaxed.
Before returning to the sea, however, you will continue your walk to the picturesque church of Agios Nikitas because from that point you will enjoy the most impressive view of the entire area.
In the summers, Nikiti becomes a popular tourist spot for another reason: on the beach of the village, every year, the Diaplus of the Toroneos Gulf is completed with athletes from all over the world completing one of the most difficult swimming marathons in Greece. The athletes are invited to cover a distance of 26 kilometers, starting from Kallithea Kassandra and finishing in Nikiti, swimming in the Toronean Gulf. Male and female swimmers from Greece and abroad are eligible to participate, as long as they have completed a swimming race of at least 5 kilometers in the past. This year Diaplus will take place on the first weekend of September.
Where you will swim
Spathies
A not so well known beach with tall pine trees above the sea. You will find it relatively close to the most famous beach of Kalogria and it essentially consists of two small coves of quite different morphology.
On one side the landscape is more wild and rocky, while on the other you will find a wider coast with warm and very shallow waters.
Ai Giannis
One of the most popular beaches in the area due to the many food and coffee options. In Ai Giannis you will also find two organized beach bars and various facilities for sports activities on the beach. It has very smooth and calm waters and is very suitable for families with small children.
Kastri
A magical beach between the central beach of Nikiti and Ai Giannis. Here you will let your children play carefree on the wide sand, while you lie under the trees that generously offer their shade. As the beach is not organized you will need to bring your own equipment.
Kastri consists of two small coves that end at Cape Kastri with the characteristic islet. The waters are clear, shallow and the bottom is sandy.
Lagomandra
A very cute beach near the well-known settlement of Neos Marmaras has become extremely popular thanks to the beautiful pine forest right next to it.
Its sandy beach is very easily accessible by car, while here you will find everything you need as a large part of it is organized. Directly above there is also a large hotel complex in case you are looking for accommodation without special transportation.
Kalogria
About 5 kilometers outside the village of Nikiti you will find the long beach of Kalogria with its soft, velvety sand and a tiny rock island in the middle of the sea. Exotic scenery, with crystal clear waters and a beach bar at one end for those who want sunbeds and an umbrella.
